Pre-College Programs
The Wilson College of Textiles holds five one-week long sessions of STEP each summer. Participants live in a NC State residence hall; participate in presentations on degree programs, applying to NC State, the Wilson College of Textiles Centennial Scholarship application process; and work on a project related to one of our majors; as well as take part in fun activities on and around campus. This program is for rising high school seniors only.

“STEP was my first experience with the Wilson College of Textiles, and all at once I made connections with faculty, networked with professors, explored campus and the surrounding Raleigh area, and made friends with future textile students. I even became first-year roommates with a friend I met at STEP, and we both were awarded scholarships resulting from that summer we spent together at NC State. The STEP program was pivotal in my decision to attend NC State.”
– Jakub Sciora, Textile Engineering student
Polymer Camp is a two-day workshop that is held at the end of July in the Department of Textile Engineering, Chemistry and Science by the faculty, staff and students. It is designed for high-school students that are interested in physical sciences and engineering, and attending NC State. Attendees will engage in hands-on laboratories and interactive sessions, learn about degree programs in TECS, learn about scholarships in the Wilson College of Textiles, learn about the admissions process for NC State, and screen print their own NC State t-shirt. This program is open to all high school students but preference is given to rising juniors and seniors. Learn more

We welcome prospective students to visit throughout the year, not just in the summer. We offer individual tours as well as an annual Fall Open House and spring visitation events for high school groups.
