About Shawn Dunning

Shawn was born in Winston-Salem, N.C. He attended the Wilson College of Textiles and graduated with a B.S. in Textiles Material Science. His love for computers drove him to a part time job while in graduate school for performance textiles. He helped support the college computer network doing help desk support and college lab support. He then moved into the Director of Web and Instructional Services position in 2003. After completing his MBA at Campbell University, he moved into the Assistant Dean for Information Technology position.

In 2017, he started managing the business office and led the finance efforts for the College. He became the Assistant Dean for Finance and Operations in 2018 which incorporates finance, information technology and facilities. He continues to teach the online section of TMS 211 which he co-developed with professor Dr. Jon Rust in 2010 and 2011.

Shawn enjoys all types of technology from small circuits, remote control vehicles, computing infrastructure, gaming consoles, cars, airplanes and basically anything with wires. He is constantly trying to figure out how to bring technology into the learning space to help students learn more effectively.
