Priorities

The Wilson College of Textiles is the world’s premier institution for textile education, research and service. We owe our success to the extraordinary support of alumni and friends.

Seamless Support

The story of the Wilson College of Textiles is interwoven with that of NC State, North Carolina and the country. As the university embarks on the largest fundraising campaign in its history, your support will drive us to think and do the extraordinary.

Ours is the only college in the United States devoted to textiles. That unique status is testament to the support of our more than 9,000 living alumni, to the wider significance of the textile industry for North Carolina — and to the extraordinary foresight of the North Carolina Textile Foundation.

Since 1942, the foundation has been the lifeblood of the Wilson College of Textiles, funding faculty recruitment and development, essential resources and programs, and the largest college-based scholarship program at NC State. Today, global companies come to us seeking our expertise, our research and our pool of talented students, more than 90 percent of whom find employment within one year of graduation. The college is helping to reshore jobs, grow the national and state economies, and pioneer the field of nonwovens.

With your support, the college will continue to be a beacon for industry in North Carolina and the worldwide leader in textile education, research and service.

An Extraordinary Future

Our campaign priorities include scholarships and fellowships to attract the most talented students; professorships to retain and recruit the best academic leaders in global textile education and research; enriching life experiences for students; and an even stronger research output, supported by strategic investments in infrastructure.

Extraordinary Opportunity

Students are at the heart of everything we do. Supporting their success through professional and personal development and providing access through undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships are key. Our pre-college programs — the Summer Textile Exploration Program and Polymer Camp — are crucial recruiting tools. Continued investment in these programs will help ensure a pipeline of talented students.

Extraordinary Purpose

As the only college in the nation devoted entirely to textiles, we play an important role in the industry. Our world-renowned faculty forms the foundation of the college’s excellence. A named deanship, named professorships and support for faculty development will help us recruit and retain academic leaders with a passion for textile education and mentorship who will inspire all our students. Infrastructure investments will support these faculty and strengthen our research output.

Extraordinary Leadership

The textile industry is part of the fabric of our state and nation, and the Wilson College of Textiles is proud to be a part of that legacy. Unrestricted support for our highest priorities will propel the college forward and bring tremendous value to our students, faculty, alumni and industry partners.
