William Harazin, teaching associate professor in the Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management department and KLG Counsel, Raleigh, recently attended a White House briefing on the Trans-Pacific Partnership Trade Agreement (“TPP”) and President Barack Obama’s Trade Agenda. At the briefing, Harazin and a small group of international trade specialists heard from high level Administration Officials, including Fred Hochberg, President and Chairman, U.S. Export-Import Bank, Drew Quinn, Deputy Chief Negotiator for TPP, Diana Doukas, Director, White House Business Council, and Jason Miller, Deputy Director, National Economic Council.  After the briefing Bill and the others had an opportunity to discuss, in depth, the TPP and the President’s Trade Agenda.  While in Washington, Bill, as a North Carolina District Export Council Member, also attended the National District Export Council Leadership Forum and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Third Annual International Trade Symposium.

Harazin, who has been involved in international trade for decades, traveled to the White House with a select group of business leaders from across the country who were assembled by the nonprofit group Business Forward. The group matches business executives with White House economic advisers before an official communique is finalized.
