Wilson College Team Designs More Fitted Hood for Defense Department Challenge

An interdisciplinary team from the College of Textiles met a challenge from the Department of Defense head on: redesign protective chemical-biological suits worn by military troops. Their design for a more fitted hood led to recognition and a $15,000 prize.

Dr. Ahmed El-Shafei has been awarded an Innovation Fund grant for his efforts to establish a sustainable commercial fabric dyeing method. This is the third time since 2014 that researchers from the College of Textiles have been named recipients.
