Sarah Wylie ’17

Degree: B.S., fashion and textile management with a concentration in brand management and marketing

Current position/employer: marketing programs manager, Bandwidth Inc.

Dean’s Page: May 2016 – September 2017

Tell us about your current role:

I started at Bandwidth in February 2018 as a marketing coordinator, coming out of two jobs that lasted a couple months each post-graduation. Best decision I’ve made! I never imagined myself in the tech industry, but it has been incredible. Although I’m not working directly in the textiles industry, the opportunity for growth has been one of the best perks and everything I learned in school has definitely been put to use. I’m currently building out a couple different brand programs to support our customer-facing sales teams and I occasionally get to put my textile knowledge to use when planning for tradeshows, new clothing apparel, etc. It’s been a fun mix of different jobs and I’m excited to see where the future takes me!

Other NC State/Wilson College activities: Intramural sports, Study Abroad, Pack Fashion

Looking back, what was it like being a dean’s page?

I loved the exposure to the rest of the Wilson College of Textiles that working as a dean’s page gave me. I had tunnel vision specific to brand management and marketing, so it was great to get excess exposure!

What did you take away from the Dean’s Page Program that helped you in your current position?

Working as a dean’s page took me to the next level of being professional. With so many influential people coming in and out of the office, it made me more comfortable with public speaking, technology, double checking my work, etc.

What advice do you have for those who are new dean’s pages or interested in becoming one?

DO IT! The experience was enjoyable, flexible, and definitely helped prepare me in my future career. Plus, Amanda is great 🙂
