Beth Palmer

  • Position: Multimedia Specialist
  • Department: Textiles Creative and Technology Services
  • Hometown: Wilmington, North Carolina

What was your path to this position?

I graduated in 2020 from Ringling College of Art and Design with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts in Computer Animation. After college I became a freelance artist taking on multiple jobs at once. I was working as a photographer, videographer, graphic designer and illustrator, while also teaching animation and working as a marketing intern. I was doing all this while waiting on that dream job where I could utilize all my artistic skills and passions in one place.

Why were you interested in this position / in working at the Wilson College?

I attended college for computer animation, but I have always loved all mediums. I was extremely interested in the multimedia specialist position because I would be able to do everything I love every day.

What are your duties on a day-to-day basis?

My job duties are completely different on a day-to-day basis which keeps my work life interesting. I work on multiple projects at once, each with different lengths and complexities. Some projects might take me a day and some might take me one to two semesters. I am able to work remotely the majority of the time and come into the office when I need to take pictures, film something or have a fun lunch with my team.

What is your favorite part of your job and/or working at the Wilson College of Textiles?

I love my job because I get to be creative every day by working on a wide variety of projects using a wide variety of media. I also love getting to collaborate with so many people and help turn their concepts into reality.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love creating artwork, interior designing, exercising either at the gym or by taking long walks in nature, and I am currently planning my wedding!
