What was your path to this position?
I graduated from the University of Montana with a B.A. in communication studies in 2018. I spent one year working as an admissions counselor at Georgia Military College before I took a position teaching high school mathematics in Tulsa, Oklahoma. During my teaching career, I obtained an M.Ed. in educational leadership from Eastern Washington University.
Why were you interested in this position at the Wilson College?
I have always loved working in education and enjoyed my time teaching high school students. As I transitioned out of the classroom, I looked for positions where I could continue supporting students as they worked towards their educational goals. I found this position at the Wilson College of Textiles, where I get to help plan milestone events like graduation and encourage students in their studies.
What are your duties on a day-to-day basis?
No two days are exactly the same! I serve as the college scheduling officer, plan academic events for the college, support our Wilson College of Textiles student organizations and work with our amazing student assistants to support on-campus events.
What is your favorite part of your job and/or working at the Wilson College of Textiles?
I love working with faculty and staff members who are passionate about education! Additionally, I have enjoyed getting to speak with current students about their courses and career goals.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy reading, going for walks and exploring new restaurants. I’m excited to see all the places Raleigh has to offer! During the summer, I spend as much time as I can at the lake. I enjoy wake surfing, paddle boarding and taking the occasional nap in the sun.
