The goal of these funds is to prevent one small emergency or unexpected expense from derailing a student\u2019s progress towards a degree. The fund is made possible from generous donors committed to helping students in need achieve their goal of graduating from NC&#160;State. If the student has applied and receives funding through the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dasa.ncsu.edu\/student-emergency-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DASA Student Emergency Fund<\/a>&nbsp;the student cannot receive funding through the Wilson College Student Emergency Fund until the next academic semester (fall, spring or summer).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Priority Needs<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Emergency housing expenses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Essential utilities (e.g. electric, gas, water)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safety and security needs (example: changing locks, moving costs, travel to court)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prescription and other one-time costs related to medical or mental health care and their associated travel costs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A student has not previously received financial assistance through this fund in the last 12 months<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Financial needs arising from an unexpected emergency, accident or other unexpected critical incidents<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Other Needs Covered<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Academic supplies (books, technology, etc. not included in tuition and fees)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travel costs related to death or illness of an immediate family member<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Replacing essential personal belongings due to fire, theft or natural disaster<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other financial needs arising from individual and special circumstances to be determined on a case by case basis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Needs Not Covered<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Negligence or incident as a result of the student\u2019s own actions&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tuition and student fees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health Insurance (including continuous healthcare costs)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Continuous fixed expenses (e.g. rent or room and board)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Study abroad costs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Non-essential utilities (cable)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Household furniture unrelated to damage or theft<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Costs of entertainment, recreation or non-emergency travel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Legal counsel and fees \u2013 Visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/studentlegal.dasa.ncsu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Student Legal Services<\/a>&nbsp;for more information on legal counsel support<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Parking tickets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ncst-buttons\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-ncst-button is-style-default\"><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/XrotsygbNzXhaNex9\" class=\"btn ncst-block__button-link\" data-ncst-lightbox=\"false\" data-ua-cat=\"Button Block\" data-ua-action=\"Button Click\" data-ua-label=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/XrotsygbNzXhaNex9\"><span class=\"text\">Submit Request<\/span><span class=\"arrow-indicator\">\n<svg class=\"wp-block-ncst-wolficon wolficon\" role=\"img\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><use xlink:href=\"#wolficon-arrow-right-bold\"\/><\/svg>\n<\/span><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Please contact <a href=\"mailto:textiles-student-services@ncsu.edu\">textiles-student-services@ncsu.edu<\/a> if you have any questions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Fund&#8217;s Purpose The Student Emergency Fund was established by the 2018 Faculty and Staff Giving Ambassadors to help ensure that Wilson College of Textiles students have access to the support and resources they need to successfully recover from unexpected financial crises.
