Minors and certificates offer students the chance to take classes or complete experiences related to a secondary interest area, without having to complete a double major. These opportunities can provide additional knowledge or skills you might hope to develop or apply to future employment. However, because the requirements for the Wilson College of Textiles majors are very specific and often sequenced, students should really consider the reason for trying to complete a minor or certificate. You can speak with your academic advisor about how completing one of these options may help you meet your academic or career goals, and how the requirements for the minor or certificate may fit within your major. The links above will also lead you to the admission requirements for each minor or certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Minor Information for Textiles Students<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TATM Students<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With proper planning, FTM students may be able to complete a minor in Business Administration or Business Entrepreneurship without taking any additional courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/textiles.ncsu.edu\/student-resources\/business-administration-or-business-entrepreneurship-minor-for-ftm\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"6871\">Business Administration or Business Entrepreneurship Minor for FTM<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For students interested in studying abroad in Europe, the Global Leadership and Team Decision Making Minor may be of interest. Most of the requirements for the minor are completed during your semester abroad, including FTM 484 which will count toward one of your concentration electives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.ncsu.edu\/undergraduate\/university-college\/global-leadership-team-decision-making-minor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Global Leadership and Team Decision Making Minor<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Both FTM and FTD students may pursue the Textile Technology minor with just a few additional courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/textiles.ncsu.edu\/student-resources\/textile-technology-minor-for-ftm\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"6891\">Textile Technology Minor for FTM<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/textiles.ncsu.edu\/student-resources\/textile-technology-minor-for-ftd\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"6897\">Textile Technology Minor for FTD<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>TECS Students<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Common minors for TECS students often depend on the concentration the student is pursuing within their major.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students in PCC may be able to align some of their minor courses to count toward advised electives. Popular minors include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.ncsu.edu\/undergraduate\/sciences\/biological-sciences\/biological-sciences-minor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Biological Sciences<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.ncsu.edu\/undergraduate\/sciences\/biological-sciences\/forensic-science-minor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Forensic Science<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>TE students, depending on their concentration, may minor in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.ncsu.edu\/undergraduate\/engineering\/industrial-systems\/industrial-engineering-minor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Industrial Engineering<\/a>\u00a0(no additional courses for Information Systems concentration)<\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.ncsu.edu\/undergraduate\/engineering\/chemical-biomolecular\/chemical-engineering-minor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chemical Engineering<\/a>\u00a0(aligns well with Chemical Processing concentration)<\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.ncsu.edu\/undergraduate\/engineering\/materials-science-engineering\/materials-science-engineering-minor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Materials Science and Engineering<\/a>\u00a0(aligns well with Product Engineering concentration)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students in TT may choose to complete the undesignated concentration and use their advised electives to complete an academic minor of their choice. The purpose of this certificate is to increase awareness of global affairs and apply new insights to academic concentrations, future careers and day-to-day life. The program includes international experience, academic experience, co-curricular activities, community service, and a final project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students interested in exploring the entrepreneurial process may be interested in completing the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.ncsu.edu\/undergraduate\/university-college\/interdisciplinary-entrepreneurship-certificate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Interdisciplinary Entrepreneurship Certificate<\/a>. Students will have the opportunity to explore entrepreneurship in the arts, social sector, non-profits, for-profits, start-ups, growth ventures, and more.
