How to Apply

1. Explore Study Abroad programs.

Begin your search by exploring recommended programs for Textiles students. These are often the best program options for Wilson College students because their course offerings align with our major requirements. However, the programs listed are not the only options for Wilson College students. To explore programs not highlighted on our website, utilize the Choosing a Program page on the Study Abroad Office’s website to review specific information about other study abroad options.

</details>

2. Review degree applicable course options and discuss your plans with your academic advisor.

Review your Degree Audit in MyPack Portal and identify remaining requirements (red X’s). For semester programs, we recommend Textiles students save 2 GEP courses and 2 Advised/Concentration Electives to take abroad, if possible. There may be other degree requirements you can take abroad as well, depending on your major/concentration. Some majors have restrictions on which courses can be taken abroad. Speak to your academic advisor for more information on course restrictions and recommended timeline to ensure your graduation will not be delayed. Many of our undergraduate degree programs have recommended semesters to study abroad based on the required course sequencing.

Review the Textiles Study Abroad Database to see pre-approved courses for Textiles students and how those courses will count toward your degree requirements.

</details>

3. Begin your Study Abroad application and apply for scholarships.

Program application and scholarship application deadlines can be found on the Study Abroad Office’s Deadlines page. Note: scholarship applications are submitted through the Study Abroad Office and the deadline for scholarships may be before the program application is due.

All application materials will be submitted through the
PackAbroad application. Specific questions about your application should be directed to the Study Abroad Office.

Some programs require a “study abroad advising” appointment – this should be conducted with
Mansir Petrie, Study Abroad Advisor for Wilson College of Textiles students. (required for all semester and year-long programs, except Lorenzo de’Medici).

</details>

4. Complete the Course Approval Form.

The Course Approval Form is required for all programs that offer transfer credit (all programs except NC State Prague or Group Programs). The approval process can take up to 10 business days, so plan to submit your form well in advance of the application deadline.

Use the
Wilson College Study Abroad Transfer Database to determine pre-approved courses for your major and add these to your form using the equivalency information listed. Be sure to cross reference the courses you intend to enroll in with the host institution’s course schedule to determine if they will be offered during the term you plan to study abroad. Not everything listed in the database is offered every semester.

If there are courses offered by the host institution that are not already in the Wilson College Database that you feel may count toward your degree requirements, you can submit the course descriptions for review using
this Google Form.

Once you have completed the course approval form, submit it to the appropriate Wilson College approver:
Meggie Metcalf.

If you need to add courses to your Course Approval Form after you have arrived at your host institution, email
Meggie Metcalf . If you enroll in courses that are not listed on your Course Approval Form, these courses may not count towards your degree.

</details>

5. Submit your completed Study Abroad application by the stated deadline.
