Where are you from?  Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

What is your town / country like?   It is a crowded city with millions of motorbikes and a diversity of foods.

Why did you decide to pursue your degree at NC State University? After finished my bachelor, I decided to pursue an academic career and I got an Erasmus Mundus (Action 2) scholarship to study my MSc. at University of Minho, Guimarães, Portugal during the period of 2010 – 2012 in multifunctional textiles. The Professors and Faculties at UMINHO have inspired me to keep nurturing my dream for a phd. degree at NC State, one of the best universities of textile globally.

Give a short description of your research:  Textiles is a quite special member in the huge world of materials. They can possess a very high area with a very humble weight. Besides, they can be seen everywhere from daily life articles to technical components. In order to make textiles more useful, especially in technical areas, superficial modifications of textiles play a paramount role. Among current approaches, plasma technology is considered as green and clean treatment for textile industry. I would like to take this advantage of plasma to render textiles certain functions such as antimicrobial, hydrophobicity.

How does your research impact the world? Hopefully be able to contribute a small grain of sand to the gigantic scientific world.

What is your favorite thing about TECS / NC State?  The knowledge provided in the courses via Faculties and Professors

What do you find most exciting about your field of study?  The ubiquity of textiles in human life.
