On December 1, 2014, the Department of Textile Engineering, Chemistry and Science (TECS) welcomed Dr. Peter J. Hauser as the Interim Department Head. Dr. Hauser replaces Dr. Jon P. Rust who accepted a new position within the Wilson College of Textiles as the Interim Director of the Zeis Textiles Extension Education for Economic Development Center.
Dr. Peter J. Hauser is Professor of Textile Chemistry in the TECS Department at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. He holds B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry from North Carolina State University and joined NC State in 1997 after a twenty four year career in textile chemical research and product development with Milliken Research Corporation, Burlington Industries, and the Virkler Company. Dr. Hauser‘s research interests include reduction of pollution associated with textile wet processing, high performance chemical finishes for enhanced value textiles, atmospheric pressure plasma treatments of textiles, and indigo dyeing and denim wet processing. His publication record includes three books, two book chapters, 101 scientific papers, 85 research presentations, and 10 patents. To date, Dr. Hauser has supervised 19 M.S., 11 Ph.D., and 18 post-doctoral students. He served as President of AATCC from 2013-2014.
