Students who are currently enrolled in a graduate program at NC&#160;State University can apply by using the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/textiles.ncsu.edu\/academics\/graduate\/phd-forms\/#change-degree-status\">degree change form<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ncst-accordion ncst-accordion\"><div class=\"accordion\" id=\"ncst-accordion-0\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-ncst-accordion-item ncst-accordion-item panel\"><a class=\"accordion-item__header collapsed\" href=\"#ncst-accordion-item-0-0\" id=\"ncst-accordion-item-heading-0\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#ncst-accordion-item-0-0\" aria-controls=\"ncst-accordion-item-0-0\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"accordion-item__expansion-indicator\"><span class=\"ncst-plus-minus-toggle\"><\/span><\/span><h2 class=\"accordion-item__label h5\">Application Requirements<\/h2><\/a><div class=\"collapse panel-collapse accordion-item__content-container \" id=\"ncst-accordion-item-0-0\" aria-labelledby=\"ncst-accordion-item-heading-0\" data-parent=\"#ncst-accordion-0\"><div class=\"accordion-item__content\">\n<p>Our Graduate Application Review Committee welcomes the opportunity to review and evaluate an admission application and supporting credentials from you. A master\u2019s degree in a related field is required to apply for the Ph.D. programs in the Wilson College of Textiles. It is preferred for students to have proof of research performance such as through Masters Thesis, or scientific conference proceedings, or peer reviewed publication.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A completed application package must contain:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Official transcripts (minimum graduate GPA of 3.0). All relevant unofficial or official transcripts from previously attended college or university.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Official GRE scores<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proof of English Proficiency\u00a0(international students)\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Three letters of recommendation&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A personal statement indicating strong research interests in and match of research interest with WCOT faculty research expertise<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resume\/Curriculum Vitae<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Application Fee ($75 for domestic and US permanent residents, $85 for international).&nbsp; All application fees are non-refundable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Online North Carolina Residency Form if claiming NC residence for tuition purposes submitted within one (1) week of application submission<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ncst-accordion-item ncst-accordion-item panel\"><a class=\"accordion-item__header collapsed\" href=\"#ncst-accordion-item-0-1\" id=\"ncst-accordion-item-heading-1\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#ncst-accordion-item-0-1\" aria-controls=\"ncst-accordion-item-0-1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"accordion-item__expansion-indicator\"><span class=\"ncst-plus-minus-toggle\"><\/span><\/span><h2 class=\"accordion-item__label h5\">Deadlines<\/h2><\/a><div class=\"collapse panel-collapse accordion-item__content-container \" id=\"ncst-accordion-item-0-1\" aria-labelledby=\"ncst-accordion-item-heading-1\" data-parent=\"#ncst-accordion-0\"><div class=\"accordion-item__content\">\n<p>Applications and all supporting documents must be received on or before the priority deadlines&nbsp;<strong>OR<\/strong>&nbsp;the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/grad.ncsu.edu\/programs\/\" target=\"_blank\">Program Deadlines<\/a>, whichever is earlier. For fall enrollment, the first round of funding recommendations will be made in mid-March. Remaining funding opportunities (relatively less) will be distributed before the end of April.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ncst-accordion-item ncst-accordion-item panel\"><a class=\"accordion-item__header collapsed\" href=\"#ncst-accordion-item-2\" id=\"ncst-accordion-item-heading-2\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#ncst-accordion-item-2\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"accordion-item__expansion-indicator\"><span class=\"ncst-plus-minus-toggle\"><\/span><\/span><h2 class=\"accordion-item__label h5\">English Proficiency Requirements<\/h2><\/a><div class=\"collapse panel-collapse accordion-item__content-container \" id=\"ncst-accordion-item-2\" aria-labelledby=\"ncst-accordion-item-heading-2\" data-parent=\"#ncst-accordion-0\"><div class=\"accordion-item__content\">\n\n<p>This requirement can be met for most applicants in one of the following ways:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Provide&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ets.org\/toefl\">Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)<\/a>&nbsp;with a total score of at least&nbsp;<strong>80<\/strong>&nbsp;on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ets.org\/toefl\/test-takers\/ibt\/about\">Internet-based Test (iBT)<\/a>. Minimum test scores for each section are listed below. Test date must be no older than two years (24 months) prior to the beginning of the requested entry term. The institution code&nbsp;<strong>5496<\/strong>&nbsp;is the only code needed to report scores to NC&#160;State University.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<p><strong>Minimum TOEFL iBT Section Scores are 18 points<\/strong>&nbsp;for all sections (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking).<\/p>\n\n\n<p>NOTE: The current computer- and paper-based versions of the TOEFL test will be given until the iBT version is implemented in a particular location. Computer-based TOEFL scores must be 213 or higher (with at least 17 on three sections and no section score below 13). The paper-based test requires a score of 550 or higher (with scores of 50 on at least two of the three sections and no section score below 45).<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Provide International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores with an overall band score of at least 6.5. Minimum test scores for each section are listed below. Test date must be no older than two years (24 months) prior to the beginning of the requested entry term. The institution code 5496 is the only code needed to report scores to NC&#160;State University.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<p><strong>Minimum IELTS Section Scores are 6.5 points<\/strong>&nbsp;for all sections (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking).<\/p>\n\n\n<p>In response to the temporary closings of testing centers in countries impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Graduate School now accepts Duolingo English Test examination results.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/testcenter.zendesk.com\/hc\/en-us\/sections\/360001819272-Preparing-for-the-Duolingo-English-Test\">Duolingo English Tests<\/a>&nbsp;taken after&nbsp;<strong>February 3, 2020<\/strong>&nbsp;will be accepted. To be admitted, a minimum score of&nbsp;<strong>110<\/strong>&nbsp;will be required. In addition to providing a score at or above the minimum, the Graduate School or graduate programs may choose to require students to participate in a Zoom or Skype interview prior to making an admission decision.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ncst-accordion-item ncst-accordion-item panel\"><a class=\"accordion-item__header collapsed\" href=\"#ncst-accordion-item-3\" id=\"ncst-accordion-item-heading-3\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-target=\"#ncst-accordion-item-3\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"accordion-item__expansion-indicator\"><span class=\"ncst-plus-minus-toggle\"><\/span><\/span><h2 class=\"accordion-item__label h5\">GRE Requirements<\/h2><\/a><div class=\"collapse panel-collapse accordion-item__content-container \" id=\"ncst-accordion-item-3\" aria-labelledby=\"ncst-accordion-item-heading-3\" data-parent=\"#ncst-accordion-0\"><div class=\"accordion-item__content\">\n\n<p>The GRE general exam is\u00a0<strong>required<\/strong>\u00a0of all applicants. GRE test scores expire five years after the test date, and expired scores are not accepted. Recommended\u00a0GRE scores are: Verbal Reasoning 150, Quantitative Reasoning 155, and Analytical Writing 3.5.
