Self-Evaluation of Transfer Credit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Identify Transferable Courses<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students attending a NC Community College have the option to use the NC State Transfer Planner<\/a>, an interactive tool that shows how their coursework transfers to NC State and fulfills degree requirements. Prospective students can access the Planner here<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The directions and resources below provide an alternative way for prospective students to help identify transferable courses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Open or print a copy of your unofficial transcript from each previous institution you have attended.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Use the NC State Transfer Course Credit Database<\/a> (\u201cCourses Taken at Other Institutions\u201d tab) to look up the equivalent course number at NC State. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Write down those courses that have an NC State equivalent. Those that have an equivalent are considered transferable (including those without direct equivalents that may be listed as TR ***, HI2GEP, etc).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. After looking up each course in the database, follow the Identify Degree Applicable Courses instructions in the next section. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    ** There may be courses you have credit for that are not in the database. If those courses are transferable, they will be reviewed by The Office of Undergraduate Admissions when you apply. If they are considered non-transferable, you will not be able to count them toward your degree at NC State. If they do transfer, your academic department will determine if they will satisfy any General Education Program (GEP) or major requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    ** Only courses from regionally accredited institutions in which a grade of \u201cC-\u201d or higher will be considered for transfer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Identify Degree Applicable Courses<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    1. Open the transfer advising worksheet from the list below that corresponds with your intended Wilson College major. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Using the list of courses that you have identified as transferable, write in those that match a course on the worksheet in the \u201cEquivalent Course at Current Institution\u201d column. For example, if you took CHM 151 at Wake Tech CC, write that course next to CH 101\/102 on the transfer advising worksheet. It will count toward the Math and Sciences requirements for your degree.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. You may have transferable courses that do not correspond to a course listed on the transfer advising worksheet. Write those down at the bottom of your worksheet. For now, those courses are considered non-degree and are not applicable toward your intended major.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. All the transferable courses that you have plugged into the transfer advising worksheet are considered degree applicable and will count towards your intended major.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      ** Courses that transfer in as TR ***, HI2GEP, etc are transferable and may be degree applicable. These would be evaluated by your academic department upon admission to determine if they would satisfy any GEP or major requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      ** If you have earned an AA or AS degree from a NC Community College, all of your GEP course requirements at NC State will be satisfied per the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Registration Recommendations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      These steps may be helpful for planning future courses at your current institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      1. For each course listed on the transfer advising worksheet, that corresponds with your intended major, that you have not yet completed, use the NC State Transfer Course Credit Database<\/a> (\u201cNC State Courses\u201d tab) to look up the equivalent course number at other institutions. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Review the Recommendations for Competitive Applicants<\/a> from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Use the above tools to select appropriate courses at your institution that will be transferable and degree-applicable to your intended Wilson College major.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        **If a course has a listed prerequisite on the transfer advising worksheet, it may be helpful to take the equivalent prerequisite at your institution if it is available so you will be able to take the higher-level course when you transfer to NC State. For example, if your intended major is Fashion and Textile Management and you have not completed the equivalent of ACC 210- Introduction to Financial Accounting, you could consider enrolling in that course since it is a pre-requisite for BUS 320- Financial Management.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
