The Chemical Processing concentration of the Bachelor of Science in Textile Engineering (TE) degree was created to combine the skill sets of a textile engineer with those of a chemical engineer, specifically for chemical companies that produce polymers and fibers. Graduates can apply this knowledge to develop or improve chemical processes for industries related to polymer and fiber fabrication. The Chemical Processing concentration focuses on solving problems related to processing of polymers, fibers, coating applications, and structures (yarns and fabrics).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This concentration combines textile engineering with several core competencies in chemical engineering. Therefore, students will learn the fundamentals of polymer science, fiber science, and the formation of fabrics and other 2-D structures while incorporating fundamental chemical engineering principles such as transport phenomena, chemical process principles, and chemical engineering analysis. Students also learn quality process improvement methodology called Six Sigma as part of their curriculum. The program encourages students to pursue their personal academic goals through summer internships, study abroad programs, capstone senior design projects, and undergraduate research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With some additional coursework, you can also opt for a dual degree in chemical engineering or a minor in CHE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
