The medical textiles program builds on the student\u2019s knowledge of polymers and fibrous materials, textile processing technologies, as well as the physical, chemical and biological sciences. This enables the student to design, fabricate and evaluate new and innovative medical textile products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Career Options<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Product Development Engineer<\/li><li>Quality Assurance Officer<\/li><li>Production Manager<\/li><li>Clinical Sales and Marketing Manager<\/li><li>Regulatory Affairs Specialist<\/li><li>Hospital Procurement Officer<\/li><li>Research and Development Director<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Details<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This concentration is the first and only medical textiles curriculum to be offered anywhere in the world as part of a university bachelor&#8217;s degree program. As a result students registered in this concentration have found internships and permanent employment with biomedical device, medical textile, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, such as Johnson &amp; Johnson, 3M, Medtronic and Pfizer, and in government departments, such as the Food and Drug Administration, and in purchasing functions within the healthcare sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All students in the medical textiles program complete fundamental coursework in polymers and fibrous materials, their conversion to textile structures, surface modification and assembly and sterilization techniques that are essential in the manufacture of commercial medical products.
