During her high school career, Rachel was an active member of the Young Democrats Association and the newly-formed Harry Potter Club. She participated in varsity lacrosse all four years and ran varsity cross country for three years. Rachel has earned a National Merit Scholarship Commendation, Tri-Eight and Tri-Nine 4A Academic All Conference honors, and designation as an Academic All American and the 2011 Tri-Nine Conference Player of the Year. Outside of the classroom, Rachel volunteers as a Greeter and in the Canteen at the Cary Triangle American Red Cross Blood Center. Rachel kept herself busy during the summer working for Leap&#8217;N&#8217;Learn as an elementary school tutor and for NC&#160;State&#8217;s Engineering Summer Camp as a camp assistant for elementary and middle school students.
