Written by Tony Hoppa.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n After a year in which time seemingly stood still, 24 hours went by in the blink of an eye March 24 \u2013 and by midnight, NC State\u2019s third Day of Giving was in the books. So, too, were <\/span>533 gifts <\/span>\u2013 <\/span>an increase of 45% from 2020 <\/span>\u2013 <\/span>from generous donors who gave<\/span> $<\/b>1,201,160 <\/b>to support the Wilson College of Textiles. Overall, the University raised $58,103,657, reflecting the indomitable Pack spirit of philanthropy.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cToday, the Wilson College of Textiles is even stronger as a result of the selfless giving demonstrated by our remarkable students, staff, faculty, alumni, parents, donors and friends,\u201d said David Hinks, dean of the college. \u201cI am so grateful for their confidence and investment in our people and programs as we drive momentum in a resurgent textiles industry.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n Among Day of Giving achievements that will directly support the Wilson College <\/span>mission<\/span><\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n Showing its fun side, the Wilson College community also enjoyed friendly competition with other NC State units, winning <\/span>the Pack Pets and the Don’t Give Up video challenges to add to its fund totals.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n “Our team’s theme this year is <\/span>celebrate<\/span><\/i>,\u201d said <\/span>Michael Ward, executive director of the <\/span>North Carolina Textile Foundation<\/span><\/a>. \u201cAnd with this being our last Day of Giving during the transformative Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign, I couldn\u2019t be more proud <\/span>\u2013 <\/span>and grateful <\/span>\u2013 <\/span>for the generosity shown by our donors. Their deep affinity for Wilson College and the example they set for others through their giving inspires us all.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n For Hinks, this year\u2019s event goes beyond dollars raised. \u201cWhat a powerful statement we’ve made in such a challenging year,\u201d he said. \u201cDay of Giving not only underscores the lifesaving and life-changing impact of textiles.
