The award is a prerequisite for consideration for the Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Alumni Distinguished Professor Award. Awardees become a member of the Academy of Outstanding Teachers at NC&#160;State.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>Annett-Hitchcock joined the Wilson College of Textiles in 2008 as an assistant professor in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/textiles.ncsu.edu\/tatm\/\"><span>Department of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management<\/span><\/a><span>, after having served four years as an assistant professor at East Carolina University. She was promoted to associate professor with tenure in 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>Since joining the college, Annett-Hitchcock has been a tireless supporter of students, encouraging them to engage in undergraduate research and helping them envision their future in the textiles industry. As a successful mentor to both her undergraduate and graduate students, she provides the tools for her students to win awards in juried creative competitions, work toward bringing their research developments to market and present their work at national and international conferences.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>Outside of the classroom Annett-Hitchcock serves as an academic advisor to the Advancement of Women Entrepreneurs at NC&#160;State, an organization that provides networking opportunities and resources for women students and faculty to succeed in their fields.
