With the entire world at your feet, it\u2019s easy to forget how many incredible and diverse places there are to discover closer to home. Elizabeth Siu found her academic adventure exploring a new culture in the American territory of Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI wanted to expand my skills and how I interact with the environment and people, and just spend time learning about a different cultural background,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustainable solutions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The program<\/a> was a joint venture between the college of engineering, and the University of Mayaguez in Puerto Rico. Her coursework consisted of two classes: an engineering course about biomedical device design, and a science, technology, and society course based around energy production and consumption on the island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
