State Wilson College of Textiles students were recently awarded scholarships from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ymafsf.org\/\">YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund<\/a>, a nonprofit made up of influential members of the fashion industry that works to offer support and encouragement to young people pursuing careers in design, merchandising, retailing and business.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>Fashion and textile management majors Megan Stitt (Raleigh, N.C.), Molly Gibson (Wilmington, N.C.) and Tyler Jackson (Wake Forest, N.C.), along with fashion and textile design major Kimberly Ring (Warrensville, N.C.), were selected from a pool of 400 applicants from more than 40 schools to receive $5,000 scholarships from the fund.&nbsp;The Fashion Scholarship Fund\u2019s goal is to advance the fashion industry by encouraging gifted and enterprising young people to pursue careers in design, merchandising, retailing and business so the industry will continue to attract dedicated, capable and creative individuals.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>The scholarship winners were honored during the Fashion Scholarship Fund Geoffrey Beene National Scholarship Awards dinner on Jan. 12 in New York City. <a href=\"https:\/\/textiles.ncsu.edu\/blog\/2016\/01\/28\/yma-fashion-scholarship-fund-competition-well-worth-the-effort\/\">Read more about the students&#8217; trip in Megan Stitt&#8217;s blog post<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scholarships were awarded entirely on merit taking into consideration the applicant&#8217;s GPAs, case study projects, personal essays, and interviews with YMA FSF Ambassadors.<\/p>\n","protected":false,"raw":"<!-- wp:ncst\/dynamic-header -->\n<!-- wp:ncst\/default-post-header \/-->\n<!-- \/wp:ncst\/dynamic-header -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p><span>Four N.C.
