What was your favorite experience from U of NYFW?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\nMy favorite experience from U of NYFW has to be attending The Blonds New York Fashion Week runway show. I was in absolute awe of each design that walked the carpet and was particularly captivated by how intricately crafted each look was. I loved the use of silhouettes throughout the collection as well as the variety of textures and fabrics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was such a surreal experience, and I remember having the thought that this was exactly what I am meant to be doing. Having the opportunity to view a designer\u2019s work up close and see real-time reactions to the designs walking down the runway confirmed that designing is where my passion truly lies in the fashion industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What are some of the major takeaways you had from attending the industry panel? <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\nMy biggest takeaway was how important it is to make connections with people no matter how small and to take risks when trying to get your foot in the door. The William Morris Endeavor (WME<\/a>) panel was the most informative experience of the trip for me and I gained so much guidance and advice hearing from industry professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did it feel wearing some of your own work to NYFW? <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\nMy biggest considerations when sewing clothes<\/a> for NYFW were representing my unique design style and creating clothes that would be both fashionable and professional for the trip! I loved wearing my own designs at NYFW because they were tailored specifically for me and served as an outward reflection of my personality and interests. There is no greater feeling than someone complimenting your outfit or asking where it’s from and being able to say you designed it yourself!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How did you apply what you’ve learned at the Wilson College?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\nI was able to see how different sections of the fashion industry all intertwined. I brought knowledge I gained through studio classes, business classes, and even labs into my NYFW experience. Each February, Manhattan transforms into one big runway as designers from all over the world showcase their collections at New York Fashion Week (NYFW). Seen walking through the city in her own designs was Wilson College of Textiles<\/a> student Sarah Grace Simas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Simas, a fashion design<\/a> student, was selected to attend U of NYFW<\/a> this year. The program allows students to attend NYFW, attend an industry panel, watch a runway show and get a behind-the-scenes look at the fashion world right in the Big Apple. The partnership is an all-expenses-paid opportunity made possible by NC State University\u2019s Trademark Licensing Office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When Simas found herself standing in Times Square surrounded by advertisements for ArtPop Street Gallery<\/a>, the first company that hired her as a fashion designer, it felt like a full-circle moment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each February, Manhattan transforms into one big runway as designers from all over the world showcase their collections at New York Fashion Week (NYFW). Seen walking through the city in her own designs was Wilson College of Textiles<\/a> student Sarah Grace Simas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Simas, a fashion design<\/a> student, was selected to attend U of NYFW<\/a> this year. The program allows students to attend NYFW, attend an industry panel, watch a runway show and get a behind-the-scenes look at the fashion world right in the Big Apple. The partnership is an all-expenses-paid opportunity made possible by NC State University\u2019s Trademark Licensing Office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When Simas found herself standing in Times Square surrounded by advertisements for ArtPop Street Gallery<\/a>, the first company that hired her as a fashion designer, it felt like a full-circle moment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simas and the rest of her U of NYFW cohort.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n\nWhat was your favorite experience from U of NYFW?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\nMy favorite experience from U of NYFW has to be attending The Blonds New York Fashion Week runway show. I was in absolute awe of each design that walked the carpet and was particularly captivated by how intricately crafted each look was. I loved the use of silhouettes throughout the collection as well as the variety of textures and fabrics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was such a surreal experience, and I remember having the thought that this was exactly what I am meant to be doing. Having the opportunity to view a designer\u2019s work up close and see real-time reactions to the designs walking down the runway confirmed that designing is where my passion truly lies in the fashion industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What are some of the major takeaways you had from attending the industry panel? <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\nMy biggest takeaway was how important it is to make connections with people no matter how small and to take risks when trying to get your foot in the door. The William Morris Endeavor (WME<\/a>) panel was the most informative experience of the trip for me and I gained so much guidance and advice hearing from industry professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Simas had the opportunity to talk with professionals from all areas of the fashion industry.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\nWhat did you take into consideration when designing clothes for NYFW? How did it feel wearing some of your own work to NYFW? <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\nMy biggest considerations when sewing clothes<\/a> for NYFW were representing my unique design style and creating clothes that would be both fashionable and professional for the trip! I loved wearing my own designs at NYFW because they were tailored specifically for me and served as an outward reflection of my personality and interests. There is no greater feeling than someone complimenting your outfit or asking where it's from and being able to say you designed it yourself!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My biggest takeaway was how important it is to make connections with people no matter how small and to take risks when trying to get your foot in the door. The William Morris Endeavor (WME<\/a>) panel was the most informative experience of the trip for me and I gained so much guidance and advice hearing from industry professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What did you take into consideration when designing clothes for NYFW? How did it feel wearing some of your own work to NYFW? <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\nMy biggest considerations when sewing clothes<\/a> for NYFW were representing my unique design style and creating clothes that would be both fashionable and professional for the trip! I loved wearing my own designs at NYFW because they were tailored specifically for me and served as an outward reflection of my personality and interests. There is no greater feeling than someone complimenting your outfit or asking where it's from and being able to say you designed it yourself!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How did you apply what you've learned at the Wilson College?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\nI was able to see how different sections of the fashion industry all intertwined. I brought knowledge I gained through studio classes, business classes, and even labs into my NYFW experience. I was able to see how different sections of the fashion industry all intertwined. I brought knowledge I gained through studio classes, business classes, and even labs into my NYFW experience.
