Jordyn Scheitler of Belmont, N.C., graduated from South Point High School. She has been awarded the American Enka <\/span>Centennial Scholarship<\/span> and will study <\/span>Fashion and Textile Management<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n Jordyn took Advanced Placement courses including world history, European history, calculus, music theory, psychology, English language and composition, Spanish language and culture, U.S. history, government and politics and business law. She participated in a variety of activities including varsity golf, Spanish Club, Teen Court, Young Life and National Honor Society. She also volunteered for a mentor program that she started called \u201cReady, Set, Read.\u201d Jordyn enjoys playing music especially the piano. She started her own t-shirt company and a jewelry company called \u201cP and J\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n She plans to use the scholarship to continue her growth as a leader. \u201c<\/span>I have worked hard throughout high school to get here, however I don’t see receiving this scholarship as the finish line, but rather the start. I am beyond appreciative that I have the Centennial Scholarship to help me network, get involved and prioritize my school work over the next four years,\u201d Jordyn says. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n Jordyn has already begun finding her place within <\/span>NC State<\/span><\/a>. \u201cSince being named a Centennial, I’ve had the chance to network with industry professionals, learn more about my general field, and become apart of a supportive community within the <\/span>Wilson College of Textiles<\/span><\/a>,\u201d she says.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n As a Fashion and Textile Management major, Jordyn plans to use her education to gain the necessary skills and knowledge in order to be successful in the textiles and business fields. Upon Graduation, Jordyn hopes to own and manage her own clothing boutique. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
