She has been awarded the Kimbrell (Distinguished) <\/span><span>Centennial Scholarship<\/span><span> and will study <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/textiles.ncsu.edu\/tatm\/fashion-and-textile-management\/\"><span>Fashion and Textile Management<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>When asked what being a Centennial Scholar meant to her, Olivia stated that \u201c<\/span><span>being a Centennial Scholar not only means I get to act as a role model and leader to my peers within the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/textiles.ncsu.edu\/\"><span> Wilson College of Textiles<\/span><\/a><span>, but also allows me to represent my college for the entire <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncsu.edu\/\"><span>NC&#160;State<\/span><\/a><span> community.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>Olivia has taken Advanced Placement courses, including U.S. government, physics and calculus. Olivia participated in a variety of activities including student government, Honors Council, yearbook, volleyball, soccer and Teens Westward Bound. She also volunteered as a recreational soccer league coach where she enjoyed the opportunity to serve her community, utilize her leadership skills, and broaden her understanding of the sport. Olivia enjoyed traveling and writing articles as the lead editor of her school\u2019s yearbook.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Olivia is excited to continue her education and personal growth through the Wilson College of Textiles. \u201c<span>I decided to study within the Wilson College of Textiles because I felt at home with the faculty and students. The Wilson College of Textiles has a small school feel with the resources of a large school, making it the perfect college for me!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Olivia notes the financial difference the scholarship will make in her undergraduate study expenses, she also feels it has given her confidence as she enters college. \u201c<span>It has reassured me of my ability to be a leader, even in such a new and unfamiliar environment,\u201d she says.
