Michael Robert Auten

Michael Robert Auten – from Hickory, NC graduated from Hickory High School. Michael is an AP Scholar with honor, and he received academic honors the past three years for maintaining a cumulative “A” average. Michael was President of the National Honors Society, Senior Class Vice President, and founder of the Hickory High Military Alumni Association. He played soccer for his high school and was selected Bandsman of the Year for the Hickory High Band. Michael attended the North Carolina Governor’s School in Instrumental Music and has participated in both NC All-State and All-District Bands. He is assistant director and section leader of Pandemic Steel Drum Band, a service-oriented band that frequently plays at local schools and community functions. Michael also worked as a Chemistry tutor, a drum teacher, and at Graystone Eye, a local ophthalmology clinic. Michael participated in NC State’s Materials Science and Engineering Summer Camp in 2010 and intends to major in Textile Engineering.
