Matthew Coats – from Charlotte, NC graduated in the top 5% of his class from Providence High School. Matt has been awarded the North Carolina Textile Foundation John Copeland Centennial Scholarship to study in a textile degree program at NC State. Matt completed several Advanced Placement courses including Biology, Comparative Government, English, Statistics and Psychology. He was president of his High School’s Key Club Spirit Chair on the Student Council’s Executive Board, and a two-year captain of the varsity tennis team. Other extracurricular activities included National honor Society, Youth Commission International, and the German Honor Society. Matt was also an active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church Youth Group, where he participated in a two-week mission trip to Honduras. Matthew intends to study Textile Engineering.
