Michelle McGoogan – from Cary, NC graduated from William G. Enloe High School. Michelle has been awarded the North Carolina Textile Foundation ITT/Roger Milliken Centennial Scholarship to study in a textile degree program at NC State. Michelle took Advanced Placement courses, including World History, Environmental Science, Calculus, Language and Composition, United States History, Literature and Composition, and Physics. She specifically enjoyed Calculus and Physics because her math and science education apply to real life. Proofs fascinate her and she loves seeing mathematically why a concept works. Based on her academic excellence and success outside of the classroom, Michelle won the AP Scholar with Honor award and the Young Playwrights Festival Honorable Mention where her one-act play, Elements, was voted on at the statewide competition hosted by the UNC Greensboro theatre department. She was a math tutor at her school in the areas of Pre-Calculus, Advanced Functions and Modeling, and Algebra Two. She was also an Assistant Teacher at Raleigh Little Theatre, Burning Coal Theatre, Applause! Cary Youth Theatre and was stage manager and actor for her high school theatre. Furthermore, she volunteered for five theatre camps for children ages 4-18. She has participated on her local swim team for the past fifteen summers and coached 4-6 year olds in the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Michelle intends to study Textile Engineering.
