The Analytical Instrumentation Facility (AIF), NC State’s primary shared research facility for materials characterization, has appointed Dr. Melissa Pasquinelli, associate professor in the Wilson College of Textiles Department of Textile Engineering, Chemistry, and Science (TECS), as Associate Director of AIF, effective immediately.

Pasquinelli’s research involves the use of computational tools for investigating nanoscale science and engineering. While AIF has established state-of-the-art experimental tools, handling and analysis of the data coming from these instruments is incredibly challenging and provides many new opportunities. In her role as AIF Associate Director, Pasquinelli will lead research, educational, and organizational efforts to bridge the gap between NC State’s exceptional experimental and computation/theory capabilities. She complements the existing leadership team of experimentalists Jacob Jones, director, and Beth Dickey, associate director. Pasquinelli is a Faculty Scholar, NC State Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor, and is an Affiliate Faculty in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.
