Masahiro Shima, founder and chairman of the board of directors of Shima Seiki Manufacturing Limited, will receive an honorary degree Dec. 15 during NC State's commencement ceremony. His company is known for innovations in flat knitting machines. Shima holds numerous patents and has won international awards for his contributions in textile engineering, green development and service.
