Sewing sustainability: Textiles lead the way to a greener future

Wilson College of Textiles Professor Sonja Salmon is leading a team of researchers know as the BIG Collaboration, or Biocatalyst Interactions with Gases. The team is building scale models of a gas-liquid scrubbing reactor capable of isolating specific gases with the help of a textile-based filter.

NC State student named to Forbes 30 under 30 list

Ritika Shamdasani, an NC State student in the Wilson College of Textiles, made this year’s Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Sharing the honor with her sister Niki, the co-founders created Sani, a South Asian-inspired fashion brand. In 2020, Sani became the first South Asian line on Rent the Runway, selling out in 48 hours.

Ritika Shamdasani, a student in the Wilson College of Textiles, was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 List along with her sister Niki. The duo founded Sani, a South Asian-inspired fashion brand which became the first South Asian line on Rent the Runway.

ORNL’s 2022 Top 10 Science Achievements at SNS and HFIR

The Oak Ridge National Library named researchers from the Wilson College of Textiles to their list of top 10 science achievements at the Spallation Neutron Source and High Flux Isotope Reactor. The researchers used neutrons at HFIR to identify a special wicking mechanism in a type of cotton yarn that allows the fibers to control the flow of liquid across certain strands.
