PCC Alumnus Shane O’Toole ‘15 Boosts Athlete Performance at Under Armour

As a student athlete during his time at NC State -- first as a preferred walk-on for the football team, then as bullpen catcher for the baseball team -- Wilson College of Textiles alumnus Shane O’Toole (PCC ‘15) learned firsthand that what an athlete wears can affect their performance. He puts that into practice every day in his current position as a material development manager for the team sports division at Under Armour.

Bright Light: Alumnus and Entrepreneur Jeremy Wall

Some ideas are born with a light bulb moment; Jeremy Wall’s idea was the result of a life and death moment. The Wilson College of Textiles alumnus (FTM ‘14) was biking across campus one evening during his junior year when he was nearly hit by a car. He set to work on a project that ultimately became Lumenus, a start-up company that pairs LED light arrays with an app to help bicyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians be easily seen in low light situations.

TT Alumna at Intersection of Science, Design and Communication

Wilson College of Textiles alumna Kilara Le ‘04 is one of the busiest experts in the textile field, working as a designer, consultant, researcher and writer. As a senior analyst for LMI, a not-for-profit consulting firm dedicated to improving the management of government, and an award-winning author for the AATCC Review, a publication of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, she must stay up to date on emerging research and be able to distill the information for a broad audience.

TE Graduate Reflects on TEK-TILES Fellowship

“This past summer has made me realize that I want to be a part of the smart textile world; watching it grow and helping it progress to the next level would be an amazing opportunity and I am excited to turn this realization into a reality,” said recent Textile Engineering graduate Courtney Lee ‘18, who spent the summer in New York City at the Brooklyn Fashion and Design Accelerator (BF+DA) as a research fellow with the TEK-TILES program.
