Donna Bouffard

  • Position: Executive Assistant to the Dean
  • Department: Dean’s Office
  • Hometown: I was born in New Jersey, but I consider North Raleigh my home!

What was your path to this position?

I started as a temp for the executive assistant to the provost when she was on maternity leave. When that assignment was over, I was offered the temporary position here, and then I was lucky enough to be hired full-time in January!

Do you have an interest in textiles or is it something you wish to learn more about in your time here?

Textiles are definitely something I would like to learn more about. I am hoping to take a class on the fundamentals of textiles through the Zeis Textiles Extension when I can find the time!

Why were you interested in this position / in working at the Wilson College?

The staff at the college are great to work with, and I enjoy being able to support Dean Hinks.

What are your duties on a day-to-day basis?

Handling the dean’s calendar, supervising the dean’s page program and supporting the college in various ways.

What about the community at the Wilson College of Textiles stands out here the most?

More than anything, I feel that there is a culture of unity and collaboration. It may be due to the size, but it is a very close-knit college. I love the diversity of our community and how comfortable it seems that everyone is with each other.

What is your favorite part of your job and/or working at the Wilson College of Textiles?

Just being able to work with such a wonderful, supportive team. I really enjoy that I get to know people from all facets of the college — faculty, staff and students from all departments and units.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Read, bake, binge watch Netflix and do home improvement projects with my husband.
