- Position: Director of Philanthropy
- Department: North Carolina Textile Foundation
- Hometown: Escondido, California
What was your path to this position?
I originally moved to North Carolina to attend Wake Forest University as a part of their Magnolia Scholars program, one of the university’s programs for first-generation scholars. I was grateful to begin my career in fundraising at Wake Forest University and then worked for the University of North Carolina School of the Arts as a major gifts officer. I have been a member of the Wolfpack since 2021, having served as a regional director of philanthropy for NC State in Charlotte and South Carolina.
Why were you interested in this position/in working at the Wilson College?
In all of my favorite parts of life, it is always the people that make it meaningful! I’ve found it to be no different professionally. In my prior role, I was lucky to get to collaborate with members of the North Carolina Textile Foundation (NCTF) team and Wilson College of Textiles alumni. Those glimpses into the work were invaluable in understanding what a special community this is. The opportunity to work for leaders and with colleagues who value authenticity and relationships is something I am very grateful for.
What are your duties on a day-to-day basis?
My job is to build relationships that lead to generosity on behalf of the NCTF and the Wilson College of Textiles. This looks different every day, but I spend a lot of time on the phone and on the road meeting with our alumni, parents, industry partners and friends. I also focus efforts on collaborating with NCTF colleagues and Wilson College of Textiles faculty and staff as they are key partners in building authentic philanthropic relationships.
What is your favorite part of your job and/or working at the Wilson College of Textiles?
It has been such a pleasure and privilege to get to interact and get to know our students and faculty. I have not had this closeness in prior roles, and the ability to be a part of such an intimate and connected community is so rewarding. I love seeing firsthand how philanthropy powers so much of what we do here at the Wilson College.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy being outside and enjoying time with my family and friends. Any day with my daughter and two rescue dogs tends to be a joyful one!
