Dr. Martin King Wins Lifetime Achievement Award at MedTex17

This May, King received the lifetime achievement award at international biomedical textiles conference MedTex17 in Shanghai. The biennial conference, which he has been instrumental in organizing for the past decade, gathers students, researchers, clinicians, delegates from the government and partners from the business, industry and medical fields to present and discuss new research.

On Saturday, May 13, NC State University’s Wilson College of Textiles graduated its largest class ever, 245 students. In all, 209 bachelor’s  degrees were awarded along with 30 master’s degrees and six doctorates. Textile Designer Claire Hider’s Inspired College Journey

Commencement speaker Claire Hider’s recent textile collection “Aligned (Undefined)” was inspired by Bauhaus, the German modernist school of art that sought to reconnect art and manufacturing. In a way, her selection of hand painted and digital designs serves as a metaphor for her studies at the College of Textiles; as she earned her bachelor of science in Fashion and Textile Design and completed a series of internships, she was able to translate her love of art and interest in science and technology into marketable product.
