Learning to Lead

Over the past year, almost two dozen women at the Wilson College of Textiles have benefited from professional development grants through the Ellen Rohde Leadership Initiative. Female students, faculty and staff have been able to network and learn through travel to conferences, workshops and research opportunities worldwide as a result of these grants, honing their leadership skills and widening their career paths.

Patternmaker: Meet FTD Alumna Caitlin Gabriel ‘17

Her grandmother taught her to sew and follow patterns at just eight years old, and she has been designing and creating her own clothes ever since. Department of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management (TATM) professor Marguerite Moore has been named a 2018-2019 NC State Alumni Association Distinguished Graduate Professor in recognition of her outstanding teaching at the graduate level. She is known for her high-quality research as well as her exceptional graduate student mentoring.
