Helping Set the Standard

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) reviews standards for first responders’ gear every three to five years. Using its world-leading testing systems, the Textile Protection and Comfort Center at the Wilson College of Textiles has made technical contributions that have helped create new testing methods and updated existing standards for firefighter turnout gear, including turnout suits and gloves.

The Wilson College of Textiles will be the center of the textile world this February 26-28, when it hosts Techtextil North America 2019 as its first official academic partner. Techtextil North America is an annual trade event dedicated to the technical textiles and nonwovens industry. For three days this month, manufacturers, suppliers, service providers and industry professionals from all over the world will gather in the City of Oaks to network, learn and share the latest advancements in textile technology.
