Learning to Lead

Over the past year, almost two dozen women at the Wilson College of Textiles have benefited from professional development grants through the Ellen Rohde Leadership Initiative. Female students, faculty and staff have been able to network and learn through travel to conferences, workshops and research opportunities worldwide as a result of these grants, honing their leadership skills and widening their career paths.

Meet the Members of the Dean’s Young Alumni Leadership Council

A group of recent graduates is helping to shape the NC State Wilson College of Textiles as they give back to their alma mater. The Dean’s Young Alumni Leadership Council was established with 12 members in 2017; over the past year, members have worked to support the College in myriad ways, from volunteering their time at events to creating internship opportunities for current students.

Mike Hale [TE, 1972] received the 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award for the College of Textiles on Oct. 27. Mike, a leader in the nonwovens industry. serves on the board of directors of the North Carolina Textile Foundation (NCTF) and supports students through an endowment he established with his wife Jean.
