But the winner of an Alumni Association Mathews Medal, the highest non-academic distinction that a graduating senior can receive, wouldn’t have it any other way.

LED Upgrade Saves Energy, Improves Senior Design Lab

The Senior Design lab in the College of Textiles recently underwent a retrofit project that improved lighting quality while reducing power consumption by two-thirds. The project, which is expected to save $4,700 annually in avoided energy costs, also provides students with a healthier indoor environment.

Senior Design Teams Give Rice Bags New Life

To prepare for the rigors of Senior Design, the capstone course for the Textile Engineering and Textile Technology degree programs, student teams worked on a smaller project with the potential for huge impact. They partnered with Stop Hunger Now to solve for the best way to repurpose rice bags to benefit people in developing countries.
