His road to commencement hasn’t been straight nor has it been easy. But the winner of an Alumni Association Mathews Medal, the highest non-academic distinction that a graduating senior can receive, wouldn’t have it any other way.

LED Upgrade Saves Energy, Improves Senior Design Lab

The Senior Design lab in the College of Textiles recently underwent a retrofit project that improved lighting quality while reducing power consumption by two-thirds. The project, which is expected to save $4,700 annually in avoided energy costs, also provides students with a healthier indoor environment.

They partnered with Stop Hunger Now to solve for the best way to repurpose rice bags to benefit people in developing countries.
