Travis Parker

  • Position: Textiles Facilities Coordinator
  • Department: Textile Facilities Operations
  • Hometown: Hillsborough, North Carolina

What was your path to this position?

I initially began my position through University Temporary Services (UTS) while looking to try something new.

Why were you interested in this position / in working at the Wilson College?

There are so many great people at the Wilson College of Textiles, and the overall environment creates such an awesome place to work. I’ve learned so much from faculty and staff, especially Rebecca. She was a real mentor to me, and learning from her has been the highlight of my time in my position so far. Working at the Wilson College has put me somewhere I can grow and learn.

What are your duties on a day-to-day basis?

My day-to-day responsibilities involve opening and closing the college, handing mail, moving supplies and material, onboarding and offboarding, eventing, servicing tickets and anything else that involves helping the community. I come to work to be of service to the college, and you’ve all turned me into a Wolfpack fan! #GoPack

What is your favorite part of your job and/or working at the Wilson College of Textiles?

Every single day is an adventure and a chance to help someone out. Being a part of the textiles facilities operations and working alongside the textiles creative and technology service team has strengthened my innovative mindset, which I try to embody in my day-to-day life.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I like to relax, go to movies and games, catch up on my favorite tv shows.
