Members of the textile and furniture industries will gather in Hickory, North Carolina, July 20 and 21 for the Furniture Manufacturing Expo.
“We are very excited to be taking part in the expo for the first time and are looking forward to finally reengaging with the industry in person to meet new customers and learn more about how we can support furniture manufacturing in North Carolina and beyond,” Zeis Textiles Extension Associate Director Melissa Sharp said.
ZTE will have a booth at the expo to make industry members aware of the extension’s resources for fabrication and testing. Extension representatives will also share information about upcoming short courses. Other booths will share more about the services and equipment they offer as well, allowing suppliers to stay up to date on advancements in logistics and technology
Furniture and upholstery designs created by two recent Wilson College alumnae will also be on display.
One of those alumnae, Alessandra Ramirez, will speak with Dr. Andre West, director of the Zeis Textiles Extension, about sustainability and predicted trends in the furniture industry.
That lecture is scheduled for 3 p.m. on July 21.
