The Furniture Manufacturing Expo in Hickory, North Carolina, will showcase Zeis Textiles' Extensions resources and courses for industry members. It will also provide an opportunity for two recent Wilson College of Textiles alumnae to showcase their work.

Prashant Prabhu Receives Distinguished Alumni Award

After completing his undergraduate studies in India, Prashant Prabhu came to NC State in 1975 not knowing what to expect from an American graduate school. His subsequent achievements as a student and then business leader took him all over the world. Now “retired” in Greenville, S.C. he relishes his continuing opportunities to give back as an educator, mentor and philanthropist.

The company is poised to earn $1 million in revenue this year, mostly due to the success of its signature product, the Blue Ridge Camping Hammock, a consistently well-rated and thoughtfully designed tent-hammock hybrid popular with outdoor enthusiasts.

The American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) recently announced Dr. Peter Hauser, professor in the department of Textile Engineering, Chemistry and Science (TECS), as the 2017 recipient of the Olney Medal Award for his myriad contributions to the textile industry in both industry and academia.

NC State double alumna and Textiles graduate Emily McGuinness '16 is earning her Ph.D. and working toward her goal of teaching at the university level. A National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellow, she was also offered a fellowship with the National Science Foundation.

Cheryl Coley Makes Her Mark

For NC State double alumna and College of Textiles graduate Cheryl Coley, an internship not only filled a spot on her resume, but also led to a full-time position with a company she admires. After her graduation in 2016 (M.A. Integrated Manufacturing Systems Engineering), she went to work as a quality engineer for Technimark, an Asheboro, N.C.-based injection-molding company that designs and manufactures product for the consumer packaging, healthcare and industrial markets.
