Annett-Hitchcock Receives 2017 Equity for Women Award

College of Textiles Associate Professor Katherine Annett-Hitchcock won the 2017 Equity for Women Award at the Annual Sisterhood Dinner on Feb. 27. The award was presented by NC State University’s Council on the Status of Women.

This year both an alumna and a student from the College of Textiles took top spots in the Denali Design-a-Throw Competition. The 2016 competition drew 763 entries from 334 students representing 22 universities across the country.

Wilson College Team Designs More Fitted Hood for Defense Department Challenge

An interdisciplinary team from the College of Textiles met a challenge from the Department of Defense head on: redesign protective chemical-biological suits worn by military troops. Their design for a more fitted hood led to recognition and a $15,000 prize.
