First-year Advising
All new Wilson College of Textiles students will receive information from their academic advisor regarding first-year course registration, which usually takes place before New Student Orientation. Your advisor will inform you of the specific timeline and will provide course recommendations to you based on your major. Be sure you are checking the email account listed in your WolfPaw account regularly so you do not miss any important emails from your advisor.
Before you register, you should become familiar with MyPack Portal and how to use it to enroll in courses. You can also review the eight-semester display for your major so you are familiar with the requirements you will need to complete. Please note that these are suggested sequences and most students will NOT take the courses in the order shown.
All incoming first-year students should complete the Math and Chemistry Placement Exams before enrolling in classes unless you have completed Calculus and/or Chemistry at another institution and plan to transfer the credits to NC State. Even students who expect to receive AP credit for Calculus and/or Chemistry are encouraged to take the placement exams because AP credits do not typically arrive to NC State prior to course registration.
If you are an incoming first-year student who is enrolling in courses for the first time, use the First-year Course Registration webpage to assist with course selection.
Spring Connect Advising
Spring Connect students will receive information regarding course registration in the fall, and will be able to meet with an academic advisor to discuss questions or concerns.
Spring Connect students are encouraged to communicate with an academic advisor in the Wilson College of Textiles if they plan to enroll in courses at a different institution for the fall semester. We can help you ensure the courses you are taking are transferable and degree applicable.
