TEXplore

High school students working in a chemistry lab.

TThe Wilson College of Textiles at NC State is excited to launch TEXplore, a summer enrichment and Saturday academy program for middle school students.

Participants will

  • Engage in fun, hands-on lab experiments and classroom experiences.
  • Learn more about the diverse textile-related STEM programs.
  • Explore textile companies through field trips.
  • Spend a week on NC State’s campus during the summer while learning from our world-class faculty.

The purpose of TEXplore is to provide rising 7th and 8th grade students, residing in Gaston, Lincoln or Catawba counties, with the opportunity to expand their interest in STEM as it relates to textiles: engineering, chemistry, technology, medical sciences, supply chain and more.

Application Information

The summer enrichment program this year will run from July 28 to August 1, 2025 on NC State’s campus. Applications will be open on a rolling basis until all spots are filled.

There is no cost to attend this program as it is funded through a grant from Burroughs Wellcome Fund.
