Student Experience
Our college is home to opportunities — and a community — you won’t find anywhere else.
A Complete Education
Many institutions offer a textiles program or two. Only our college offers a comprehensive textiles education, backed by unmatched experiences you make your own.
Here, you can tap into the high-impact learning, extensive industry connections and worldwide engagement that are unique to us — not to mention all the resources of North Carolina’s largest university. From student-run fashion shows to senior design projects for brands like Under Armour or Red Bull, you can lead with like-minded peers.
Develop your passion for sustainability, pursue undergraduate research or study overseas in cities from Manchester to Melbourne. Tailor your experience to the things you care about. Then turn them into a fulfilling career.
No matter where you are headed, you are a part of Wilson for Life.

At today’s commencement ceremony, Anil Kochhar announced that he and his wife, Marilyn, are making a remarkable gift to cover all the final-year education loans for the Wilson College class of 2026.
“Marilyn and I hope that all of you leave Reynolds Coliseum today not only with a degree but with greater freedom to pursue your goals, take risks and build the lives you’ve worked so hard to achieve,” Kochhar said.
Kochhar made this gift in honor of his father, the late Wilson College of Textiles alumnus Prakash Chand Kochhar ’50, ’52.

Lifelong Disney fanatic Jamie Piraino (FTD-TD ‘27) has spent her semester on Disney Live Entertainment’s character costume buying team. She helps with purchase orders for fabric, checks color swatches and joins in on conversations about fabric redevelopment.
“A big part of why I got this position is that I understand textiles and how they’re made,” she says.
