Lifelong Disney fanatic Jamie Piraino (FTD-TD ‘27) has spent her semester on Disney Live Entertainment’s character costume buying team. She helps with purchase orders for fabric, checks color swatches and joins in on conversations about fabric redevelopment.
“A big part of why I got this position is that I understand textiles and how they’re made,” she says.
A perk of the job? Free admission to Disney World.

✅ A capstone project that makes a difference
These Wilson students are developing more comfortable protective gear for wildland firefighters.
It’s just one of many real-world solutions that are in the works thanks to Senior Design. In this year-long capstone course, seniors majoring in textile engineering and textile technology partner up with industry sponsors to tackle big challenges.
