Student Experience
Our college is home to opportunities — and a community — you won’t find anywhere else.
A Complete Education
Many institutions offer a textiles program or two. Only our college offers a comprehensive textiles education, backed by unmatched experiences you make your own.
Here, you can tap into the high-impact learning, extensive industry connections and worldwide engagement that are unique to us — not to mention all the resources of North Carolina’s largest university. From student-run fashion shows to senior design projects for brands like Under Armour or Red Bull, you can lead with like-minded peers.
Develop your passion for sustainability, pursue undergraduate research or study overseas in cities from Manchester to Melbourne. Tailor your experience to the things you care about. Then turn them into a fulfilling career.
Classes are just about a month away, and we can’t wait to have you all back in all these spaces! We miss you, Wolfpack. 🥹🐾❤️
Travel to Kyoto, Japan with Lainey Volz (FTD-FD ‘26) and Maylan Maxwell (FTM-FDPM ‘27) to explore textiles from the other side of the world!
It’s pronounced Barthelona, not Barcelona.
Ralph Hwang (TT ‘27) spent part of his summer learning all about Spanish culture and exploring Europe, all while learning more about dyeing and finishing, which sounds pretty great to us.

Bella Cybulski (TD ‘26) interned at Vineyard Vines last summer in the print and pattern design department. Now, Vineyard Vines is selling products with her artwork.

Congratulations to all the designers, and special shoutout to #NCStateWilson sophomore Neely Mallik for winning first place in the novice category with a collection inspired by her travels around the world. 🌍

Fighting heat stress with fabric science — that’s hot! 🧵🔥
#NCStateWilson Senior Design students partnered with Workwear Outfitters, the parent company of @dickies and @libertyoveralls, to create advanced workwear for road crews and linemen working in extreme heat.
Caitlyn Barnwell, Niamh Williams and Hannah Kirk designed a zoned passive cooling garment that works with the body’s natural thermoregulation, targeting heat-sensitive zones. The team used fabric-level testing and full garment trials with the Miliken Textile Protection and Comfort Center to provide strong recommendations to their sponsor.

The runway meets the sketchbook in FTD 218! 👗✏️✨
In FTD 218: Fashion Illustration, students learn the foundations of fashion design through the art of illustration. This studio-based course focuses on everything from figure proportion and pose to fabric rendering and styling for different occasions.
Each student displayed two to three A4-sized fashion illustration renderings during the midterm showcase. Their work reflects weeks of practice and development of drawing skills and visual design language!
