Your Textiles Journey Starts Here
If you’re looking to avoid the summer slide or help your student decide what they might want to study in college, you’ve come to the right place.
The Wilson College of Textiles offers two summer camps for high school students filled with on-campus experiences and hands-on learning about everything from engineering and chemistry to fashion design, textile design and business.
Summer Textile Exploration Program (STEP)
The Wilson College of Textiles holds five one-week long sessions of STEP each summer. Participants live in an NC State residence hall and eat in our dining halls.
They also participate in presentations on degree programs, applying to NC State and the Textiles Scholarship application process. Students work on a project related to one of our majors, as well as take part in fun activities on and around campus.
This program is for rising high school seniors only.
TexTEC Camp (formerly Polymer Camp) is a two-day workshop that is held at the end of July in the Department of Textile Engineering, Chemistry and Science by the faculty, staff and students.
It is designed for high-school students that are interested in technology, engineering or chemistry (TEC), and attending NC State.
Attendees will engage in hands-on laboratories and interactive sessions, learn about degree programs in TECS, learn about scholarships in the Wilson College of Textiles, learn about the admissions process for NC State and screen print their own NC State t-shirt.
This program is open to all high school students but preference is given to rising juniors and seniors.
The Wilson College of Textiles at NC State is excited to launch TEXplore, a summer enrichment and Saturday academy program for underrepresented middle school students from Gaston County.
Participants will engage in fun, hands-on lab experiments and classroom experiences; learn more about the diverse textile-related STEM programs; explore textile companies through field trips; and spend a week on NC State’s campus during the summer while learning from our world-class faculty.
