Student Experience
Our college is home to opportunities — and a community — you won’t find anywhere else.
A Complete Education
Many institutions offer a textiles program or two. Only our college offers a comprehensive textiles education, backed by unmatched experiences you make your own.
Here, you can tap into the high-impact learning, extensive industry connections and worldwide engagement that are unique to us — not to mention all the resources of North Carolina’s largest university. From student-run fashion shows to senior design projects for brands like Under Armour or Red Bull, you can lead with like-minded peers.
Develop your passion for sustainability, pursue undergraduate research or study overseas in cities from Manchester to Melbourne. Tailor your experience to the things you care about. Then turn them into a fulfilling career.
Let’s Think and Do at the #NCStateWilson Weaving Lab!
Will Swanson (TE ‘27) discovered the Weaving Lab through the Research Experience for Undergraduates, when he was assigned to work in the Zeis Textiles Extension labs. He has continued to work in the lab as a student worker.
“I actually get to see how things work out from start to finish and why certain mechanisms are doing what they’re doing, and it kind of gave me a glimpse into a whole product cycle,” Will says.

From Raleigh to the Queen City!
Check out Olivia Jurney’s (FTD-FD ‘27) collection “Gaea’s Throne” featured at Charlotte Fashion Week!
Olivia was inspired by designer Issey Miyake and used several techniques, including sublimation printing, machine pleating, hand embroidery and CAD software. We love seeing #NCStateWilson students take on new opportunities and show off their work!
We’re manifesting big things over here at the #NCStateWilson career fair!

Who made the sparkly belt that sparked conversation after Tuesday’s @packmensbball victory over UNC-Chapel Hill? Obviously an #NCStateWilson student did!
Kayla Bigley (FTM-FDPM ‘26) was given the opportunity to design and create the belt by Will Wade’s assistant, Reed Vial.
The belt is an intentional reference to Tar Heel player Caleb Wilson, who went viral last summer on social media by saying his team was going to “put the belt on everybody.”

Senior Design is in full swing for #NCStateWilson textile engineering and textile technology seniors. Here’s how they’d describe their projects in one word.
This #NCStateWilson alum headed to the red carpet at the Grammys AND designed her own gown for it!
Kiana Bonollo (FTD-FD ‘21) attended the Grammys earlier this month with @apnewsentertainment as a style correspondent.
“Attending the Grammys as a live fashion correspondent with the Associated Press was one of the scariest milestones of my career,” Kiana says. “I felt a sense of imposter syndrome and there were even moments where I wanted to back out. But I prepared and pushed through and it was absolutely WORTH IT. So to the students who feel like their dreams may be out of reach or even too frightening to pursue... I am here to tell you it might always be scary to take that next step, but it will always ALWAYS be worth it. Thank you so much to the Wilson College for helping shape my creativity and confidence as a designer. I’m proud to represent that journey here at the Grammys.”
#NCStateWilson takes the Big Apple! 🍎🏙️
Students in the National Retail Federation (NRF) had the opportunity to head up to NYC to hear from leaders in the fashion and retail industry about brand strategy, consumer behavior and product innovation.
