Student Experience
Our college is home to opportunities — and a community — you won’t find anywhere else.
A Complete Education
Many institutions offer a textiles program or two. Only our college offers a comprehensive textiles education, backed by unmatched experiences you make your own.
Here, you can tap into the high-impact learning, extensive industry connections and worldwide engagement that are unique to us — not to mention all the resources of North Carolina’s largest university. From student-run fashion shows to senior design projects for brands like Under Armour or Red Bull, you can lead with like-minded peers.
Develop your passion for sustainability, pursue undergraduate research or study overseas in cities from Manchester to Melbourne. Tailor your experience to the things you care about. Then turn them into a fulfilling career.
Happy holidays, #NCStateWilson!

Two degrees are better than one – especially if one is an #NCStateWilson degree!
Fatemeh Haydari (TE ‘25) set off to major in both textile engineering and biomedical engineering because she noticed how both programs really complement each other.
“I definitely think textiles adds to the BME field rather than vice versa, but in a lot of my BME classes, we talk about tissue engineering, scaffolding and stuff like that, which are often made out of textile materials. Especially the polymer engineering that we go into a lot for TE definitely helps with that,” Fatemeh says.

Live from New York, it’s FSF Live!
This past year, Celia Fennell (FTM-FDPM ‘26) and Rachel Kelly (FTM-BMM ‘26) participated in FSF’s signature case study competition and submitted their ideas to earn a scholarship and some time in the city.
The three-day FSF Live event connected them with over 900 industry leaders, including Macy’s chief executive officer, and featured a Q&A with KidSuper and the FSF Gala.

Spending the fall weaving >>>
Textile design students taking FTD 375 spent the semester in our hand weaving studio exploring basic structures, textures and color effects. From setting up their looms to creating products out of their woven fabrics, they gained hands-on experience with every step.
Take a look through some of their designs and process!
Merging a love of engineering and fashion? That’s the #NCStateWilson dream!
Nicole Rosario-Ortiz (M.S. TE ’23) came to Wilson to pursue her master’s after gaining an interest in sustainable fashion.
Now, as a senior consultant textile engineer at Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington, D.C., Nicole works with government clients on national security projects. The best part? Having fellow Wilson alumni as her coworkers!
