TT | Supply Chain Operations Concentration

A supply chain, no matter where this concept is applied, consists of all the steps necessary to produce and distribute a product. This includes starting with the raw material, managing and coordinating various manufacturing, communication and information technologies, and delivering the finished product. The Supply Chain Operations concentration of the Bachelor in Science in Textile Technology focuses on solving problems in manufacturing, sourcing, transportation, logistics and retail operations.

The Details

Students in the Supply Chain Operations concentration receive in-depth training in the textile processes required to convert raw materials into finished products. These products will be as diverse as apparel, home furnishing, protective clothing, medical devices, transportation, and architecture. Students also learn about the technologies to support both the movement of materials (automatically guided vehicles-AGVs, robotics, etc.) and the flow of information (barcodes, radio frequency identification-RFID, Enterprise Resource Planning computer systems- ERP, data mining, etc.). Managing the materials and using the information are both major roles in supply chain management. The program encourages students to pursue their personal academic goals through summer internships, study abroad programs, product development projects, and undergraduate research.
