The story of the Wilson College of Textiles is interwoven with that of NC State, North Carolina and the country. Each and every day, support from donors drives us to think and do the extraordinary.

Ours is the only college in the United States devoted to textiles. That unique status is a testament to the support of our more than 10,000 living alumni, to the wider significance of the textile industry for North Carolina and to the extraordinary foresight of the North Carolina Textile Foundation.

Since 1942, the foundation has been the lifeblood of the Wilson College of Textiles, funding faculty recruitment and development, essential resources and programs, and the college’s robust scholarship program. Today, global companies come to us seeking our expertise, our research and our pool of talented students. Within six months of graduation, more than 90% of Wilson College alumni are working in a related field or have chosen to continue their education. According to NACE (The National Association of Colleges and Employers), the average career outcome rate for college graduates is 82% within six months. The college is helping to reshore jobs, grow the national and state economies, and pioneer the field of nonwovens.

Students are at the heart of everything we do. Supporting their success through professional and personal development and providing access through undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships are key. Our K-12 programs — the Summer Textile Exploration Program and TexTEC Camp — are crucial recruiting tools. Continued investment in these programs will help ensure a pipeline of talented students.

As the only college in the nation devoted entirely to textiles, we play an important role in the industry. Our world-renowned faculty form the foundation of the college’s excellence.
